History of Cameron Landscapes
Cameron Landscapes & Garden Centre was founded by the late Ronnie Cameron in 1968. Ronnie had worked for the parks department in Belfast but had always dreamed of owning his own garden centre and landscape business. With more than a little persuasion his wife Pat parted with her savings and they purchased Ballylesson House in 1968... and so the story began.
Ballylesson Garden Centre was managed by Pat who worked tirelessly to develop the reputation which it has today, while Ronnie concentrated on the landscaping. In 1968 land beside Ballynahatty House was purchased, a glass house was erected, and the landscaping and wholesale nursery was born.
Throughout the 70's and 80's Ronnie worked with local public authorities and private clients which resulted in Cameron Landscapes rapidly growing to become one of the leading landscape contractors in the North of Ireland.
In 1987 Ronnie's son Geoffrey joined his father and developed the grounds maintenance division of the business. Into the 90's and the company was awarded numerous grounds maintenance contracts resulting in the workforce expanding to over 50 tirelessly working all over the province.
In 1996 Ronnie's Daughter Kathryn joined the company after completing her business degree and has since worked primarily in the office taking care of an ever increasing workload.
Since Ronnie's death in 1999, Geoffrey's wife Heather and Kathryn's husband Shaun have since joined the company and have been heavily involved in the continued expansion and renovation of the business which you now see today.
Currently we are now the most successful Landscape Contractor in Ireland, North & South, with no fewer than 6 Bog Oak awards (given to best over scheme in Ireland, private or commercial). This coupled with our newly renovated Garden Centre, Café & Deli will continue to develop our strong reputation with customers, clients and contractors in the years ahead.
